Significant results are definitely achievable with a series of three treatments to the active growth cycles. The average person will see great results with 6 – 8 treatments and will find much less hair growing back after each treatment. Treatment times may vary depending on the size of the body part, the equipment being used and prep time, if necessary. Technically, all areas of the body are considered to be treatable.
Upon your first visit, most centers will have you shave the area to be treated prior to your visit – some centers may do this for you. When the area is hair-free, the laser can target the hair follicle below the skin. In most states, a laser certified technician or an esthetician will perform the procedure, however, some states require a nurse or a doctor. Before passing the laser hand piece over the target area, the technician will set the equipment to your skin type.
Immediately after treatment, the skin may be red in color lasting up to thirty minutes. Two to three weeks following the treatment, the hair that was treated will work its way out of the follicle and fall out. Another two to three weeks after; the second treatment, the next hair growth cycle, grows in and the third treatment takes place. In between treatments, the hair grows much slower, finer and lighter in texture with less hair growing back. Because of the immediate hair reduction, most patients find this process tolerable.
Laser hair removal is the most effective method versus tweezing, waxing or shaving – in which the hair always returns. For this reason, laser hair removal has rapidly become one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures by people in the United States.
Laser Hair Removal Side Effects:
The treated skin may be red immediately after treatment and last for a few days; which is normal. In rare cases, discoloration or burning may occur.
